What happens during a domestic EPC visit?
An assessor records relevant property features used to produce the energy rating, including building age and construction, dimensions, insulation, windows, fixed lighting, heating and hot water. The finished certificate includes recommendations for potential improvements.
Before the assessor arrives
- Arrange access to all rooms and accessible heating or hot-water equipment.
- Find any available evidence of insulation, glazing or heating-system upgrades.
- Tell the team about access restrictions, extensions or unusual features.
- Keep a contact person available for the agreed appointment.
After the assessment
The assessor prepares and lodges the EPC. The certificate is available through the official register. Delivery timing depends on the visit and assessment; confirm the expected timeframe when booking.
